The Full Story
My first NEET attempt was a disaster, and I knew exactly why. It wasn't that the syllabus was too hard — it was that I could lose three hours to my phone without even noticing. My preparation was quietly drowning in distraction.
Taking a drop year was humbling. Everyone I knew had moved on to college, and I was back at the same desk with the same books and a lot of shame.
What actually changed things sounds almost silly — the daily study streak. Not wanting to break a 40-day streak gave me the same little pull that Instagram used to. Slowly, showing up every day became automatic, even on the days I didn't feel like it. And those are exactly the days that build a rank.
On my second attempt I scored 605 out of 720. The syllabus was never really the hard part. Building the discipline to face it every single day was — and that's the real thing this year taught me.
Challenges Faced
Chronic distraction and inconsistency. In my first attempt I lost enormous amounts of time to my phone and never built a real daily study habit.
How Kitabey Helped
The streaks and progress tracking made consistency almost addictive. Being rewarded for simply showing up every day slowly rewired studying from a chore into a habit.
Study Routine
- Protected a daily study streak — even a short session counted
- Kept my phone in another room during focus blocks
- Same fixed start time every day, to build the habit
- Checked my progress stats daily for a small hit of motivation
- A weekend mock to turn the habit into actual marks
